Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup grated fresh beetroot
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce

Method
 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine whole wheat flour and grated beetroot.
  3. 3. Add applesauce and mix until a workable dough forms.
  4. 4. Roll dough out to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface.
  5. 5. Use a paw-shaped cookie cutter to cut out treats.
  6. 6. Place cutouts on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. 7. Bake for 20 minutes until treats are chewy.

Notes

**Never use xylitol**—it's toxic to dogs!
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
