Ingredients

  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 ripe banana mashed
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons natural peanut butter xylitol-free
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional

Method

  1. 1. Preheat your oven to 325°F and line a baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. 2. Mash the ripe banana in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
  3. 3. Stir in the unsweetened applesauce and peanut butter until evenly combined.
  4. 4. Fold in the rolled oats and cinnamon (if using) to create a uniform mixture.
  5. 5. Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.
  6. 6. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down firmly to ensure it holds its shape.
  7. 7. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges turn lightly golden.
  8. 8. Remove from the oven and allow the bars to cool completely.
  9. 9. Slice the cooled mixture into appropriately sized bars for your dog.

Notes

Ensure the peanut butter used is xylitol-free as xylitol is toxic to dogs.
For a firmer texture, bake the bars slightly longer.
You can substitute the applesauce with pumpkin puree for added fiber.
Store the bars in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for extended storage.
