Cheddar Apple Dog Cake Treats: A Pawsome DIY Recipe

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream cold
  • 1 teaspoon unflavored agar-agar powder
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. 1. Preheat the oven to 350º F and line two 6-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, mix applesauce, oil, honey, eggs, and cheese together.
  3. 3. In another bowl, mix flour, oats, and baking powder together.
  4. 4. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. 5. Equally, spoon the mixture into the cake pans.
  6. 6. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. 7. Let the cakes cool completely.
  8. 8. For whipped cream: In a cold bowl, add heavy cream and agar-agar powder. Whip until peaks form, add powdered sugar, and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.
  9. 9. Use whipped cream as icing, top the cake and decorate as desired.

Notes

**Never use xylitol—it’s toxic to dogs!**
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
