Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup shredded low-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1 large egg
  • 3/4 cup unsalted chicken broth or water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or coconut oil

Method
 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, cheese, parsley, and rosemary. Stir well.
  3. 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together egg, oil, and broth.
  4. 4. Gradually add wet mixture to dry ingredients, stirring to form a soft dough.
  5. 5. Knead dough lightly on a floured surface for 1–2 minutes.
  6. 6. Roll out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters.
  7. 7. Place treats on baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  8. 8. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving or storing.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week, or freeze for 3 months.
Avoid toxic ingredients like onion or garlic.
