Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 6 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks optional

Method
 

  1. 1. Melt butter and chocolate together. Stir until smooth and cool slightly.
  2. 2. Whisk sugars and eggs for 2-3 minutes until pale and thick. Add vanilla.
  3. 3. Stir in melted chocolate mixture.
  4. 4. Add cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix until combined.
  5. 5. Fold in optional chocolate chips or chunks.
  6. 6. Let batter sit for 10 minutes.
  7. 7. Scoop dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. 8. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
  9. 9. Let rest on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

Top with a pinch of flaky sea salt before baking for a gourmet touch.
Add chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra texture.
