Easy Veggie Dog Pops: A Fun, Healthy Treat for Your Pup

These vegetable-based dog treats are great even for the carnivorous pups in the family.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables ensure they are suitable for dogs
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 low-salt veggie stock cube optional
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 1/2 cups wholemeal flour
  • 1 cup rice flour
  • 1/2 cup wheatgerm
  • 1/4 cup brewer's yeast

Method
 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. 2. Place frozen veggies, stock cube, and water in a microwave-safe dish and microwave for 3 minutes or until soft.
  3. 3. Blend the mixture into a puree using a food processor or blender.
  4. 4. Add olive oil, wholemeal flour, rice flour, wheatgerm, and brewer's yeast. Mix until a dough forms, adding water if needed.
  5. 5. Roll dough to 5 mm thickness and cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
  6. 6. Place shapes on baking trays lined with parchment paper.
  7. 7. Bake for 20 minutes or until firm.
  8. 8. Turn off oven and let treats cool inside for about 90 minutes.
  9. 9. Store in an airtight container once cooled.

Notes

Always ensure the vegetables used are safe for dogs.
Avoid vegetables like onions and garlic, which are toxic to dogs.
