- 1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
- 2. Mix flour and oats in a bowl.
- 3. Add egg and applesauce to dry ingredients.
- 4. Mix until stiff dough forms; add water as needed.
- 5. Divide dough in half.
- 6. Knead beetroot into one half for red color.
- 7. Roll red and white dough into 6-inch ropes.
- 8. Twist ropes together into candy cane shapes.
- 9. Place on a parchment-lined baking tray.
- 10. Bake for 22–28 minutes until firm.
- 11. Cool completely before serving.
Notes
Use oat flour for sensitive tummies.
Chill dough if it becomes sticky.
