Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 pound fresh green beans washed and trimmed
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil optional, for extra crispness

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F.
  2. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Pat the green beans dry with a clean towel to remove excess moisture.
  4. If using olive oil, place the beans in a bowl and toss with the olive oil until lightly coated.
  5. Spread the green beans in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they are not overlapping.
  6. Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 1 1/2 hours.
  7. Remove the pan from the oven, flip or stir the green beans, and spread them back into a single layer.
  8. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 1 1/2 hours, or until the beans are dry, crisp, and snap easily when broken.
  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the green beans cool completely on the pan.
  10. Store the cooled green bean crunchies in an airtight container in the refrigerator and use within 1 week, or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

- Do not add salt, garlic, onions, or any seasonings; plain green beans are safest for dogs.
- Skip the olive oil if your dog is on a low-fat or weight-loss plan.
- Break larger pieces into smaller bites for small dogs or training treats.
- Always introduce new treats gradually and watch for any digestive upset.
