Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour or gluten-free alternative
  • 1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce or pureed pumpkin
  • 1 large egg

Method
 

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. 2. In a medium bowl, whisk chicken broth, applesauce (or pumpkin), and egg until well mixed.
  3. 3. Gradually add flour, stirring until dough forms. Knead until smooth.
  4. 4. Roll dough on a floured surface to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut shapes with a cookie cutter.
  5. 5. Place chews on baking sheet. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. 6. Cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Use homemade broth free from salt, onions, and garlic.
Substitute almond or coconut flour for grain-free option.
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Freeze for longer storage, up to three months.
