Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 6-cup mini Bundt pan with a thin layer of coconut oil, making sure to coat all the ridges.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the oat flour, brown rice flour, baking powder, and baking soda until well combined and no streaks remain.
- In a large bowl, stir together the peanut butter and unsweetened applesauce until smooth.
- Add the coconut milk, melted coconut oil, and egg to the peanut butter mixture and whisk until the mixture is smooth and the egg is fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring with a spatula just until no dry flour remains. Do not overmix; a few small lumps are fine.
- Divide the batter evenly among the prepared mini Bundt cups, filling each about 3/4 full to allow room for rising.
- Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 18–20 minutes, or until the cakes are set and a toothpick inserted into the center of one cake comes out clean.
- Remove the pan from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Carefully loosen the edges with a small spatula if needed, then invert the pan onto a wire rack to release the cakes.
- Allow the mini Bundt cakes to cool completely on the wire rack before serving to your dog.
Notes
- Always use natural, xylitol-free peanut butter; xylitol is highly toxic to dogs.
- Let cakes cool completely before serving to avoid burning your dog’s mouth.
- Store cooled cakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.
- For longer storage, freeze cakes in a single layer until firm, then transfer to a freezer-safe bag and freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw in the refrigerator before serving.
- Serve plain or crumble a small piece over your dog’s regular food as a special treat.
