Ingredients
Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease or line a small rectangular baking pan, about 8 by 8 inches.
- Place the cooked carrot in a medium bowl and mash until smooth with no large chunks.
- Stir the finely chopped, steamed spinach into the mashed carrot until evenly combined.
- Add the egg and mix until the vegetables are fully coated and the mixture looks smooth.
- Add the oat flour and stir until a thick dough begins to form.
- Slowly pour in the water, mixing just until you have a thick, spreadable batter that holds its shape on a spoon.
- Scrape the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it into an even layer, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Bake for 22 to 25 minutes, until the center feels firm to the touch and looks dry, not wet or glossy.
- Remove the pan from the oven and let the bars cool completely in the pan on a rack.
- Once cool, lift out and cut into 12 small bars or squares, sized appropriately for your dog.
Notes
- Store cooled bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for up to 7 days.
- For longer storage, freeze bars for up to 2 months and thaw a piece at room temperature before serving.
- Always adjust bar size to your dog’s size and chewing ability, and feed as a treat, not a full meal.
- Consult your veterinarian before introducing new treats if your dog has food sensitivities or medical conditions.
- Never add salt, sugar, chocolate, xylitol, onions, garlic, or seasonings to dog treats.
