Wholesome Chicken Broth Treats for Your Furry Friend

These frozen treats use homemade chicken broth for a tasty, nutrient-rich snack your dog will love.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 chicken thighs or 1 chicken breast
  • 4 cups water
  • Optional: 1 carrot halved
  • Optional: 1 celery stalk halved
  • 1 cup dog-safe chicken broth
  • Optional: bits of cooked chicken
  • Optional: chopped carrots
  • Optional: blueberries
  • Optional: tiny pinch of parsley

Method
 

  1. 1. Add chicken, water, carrot, and celery to a pot.
  2. 2. Bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat.
  3. 3. Simmer 45–60 minutes until fully cooked.
  4. 4. Remove chicken and vegetables; strain broth through a fine sieve.
  5. 5. Cool completely and skim off the fat.
  6. 6. Pour cooled broth into a bowl; add optional mix-ins.
  7. 7. Pour mixture into silicone molds or ice cube trays.
  8. 8. Freeze for 3–4 hours or overnight.
  9. 9. Pop out and serve cold.

Notes

Do NOT add salt, onions, garlic, or spices.
Store frozen treats in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
